Board Member Opportunity – Governance & Finance Expertise
With a 40-year legacy of improving quality of life throughout South Niagara, Port Cares is looking for up to two (2) mission-driven volunteer candidates to serve on the Board of Directors helping to guide the agency through its next great chapter. We are currently recruiting for up to two (2) volunteer Board of Directors positions for one (1) year terms to start, beginning (June) in our 2026-2027 governance year.
Board Member Opportunity – Governance & Finance Expertise
We are seeking a Board Member with proven experience serving on a governing board, bringing a strong foundation in governance practices and financial oversight. The ideal candidate will contribute strategic insight, sound judgment, and accountability to support the organization’s long-term sustainability.
Our ideal Board Member will demonstrate:
- Prior experience on a governing board, with a clear understanding of board roles, responsibilities, and effective governance practices
- Strong financial and business acumen, including experience with P&L management, budgeting, and interpreting financial statements in support of organizational decision-making
- The ability to apply financial expertise within a not-for-profit or charitable environment
- A commitment to active participation, including serving on at least two (2) committees (e.g., Governance, Finance, Outreach, Project, Capital & Property)
- An appreciation for the value of networked community connections, with the ability to support fundraising and philanthropic initiatives
