Port Cares Is Throwing Open Its Doors This June 20
Port Colborne, ON, June 9, 2026— Port Cares is inviting the community to come and see firsthand the heart behind their work, with an Open House at the Reach Out Centre on Saturday, June 20 from 11am to 3pm.
Located at 61 Nickel Street, the free event is open to everyone and offers a chance to explore the Reach Out Centre, meet the people behind Port Cares' programs, and learn about the services available to residents of South Niagara.
Highlights of the day include tours of the Reach Out Centre, a first look at Port Cares' new greenhouse, children's activities, and access to their accessible playground. Families are encouraged to come out and spend the afternoon.
Visitors will also have the chance to say hello to Ruby - Port Cares' beloved strawberry ambassador - in the greenhouse, and learn about the organization's vision for growing fresh produce on-site for the community.
"There is so much to celebrate and so much to look forward to. The updates to the Reach Out Centre and the new greenhouse represent what Port Cares is all about, growing with our community and finding new ways to serve,” said Chandra Hardeen, Executive Director of Port Cares. “We want everyone to come through our doors on June 20 and see what your support has made possible over the last 40 years."
The Open House also coincides with Port Cares' ongoing "40,000lbs of Food to Celebrate 40 Years" campaign, running through June 30. Attendees are welcome to bring a food donation on the day.
